Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Truck Driver to join their logistics team based in Ruiru, Kiambu, KE . This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and safe transportation of goods across various routes. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent driving record, a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), and a thorough understanding of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques. Responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring that the truck is clean and in good working order, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. You will be responsible for loading and unloading cargo, securing it properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, and adhering to delivery schedules. This position requires meticulous attention to detail in maintaining logs, mileage records, and delivery manifests. Strong navigational skills, utilizing GPS and maps, are essential. The driver will also be responsible for basic maintenance of the vehicle, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure. This is a demanding role that requires physical stamina for loading/unloading and long hours on the road, often involving early mornings or late evenings. You will interact with clients at delivery points, so professionalism and good communication skills are paramount. The role involves a mix of local and regional deliveries, with some overnight stays possible. Safety is our utmost priority, and the driver must strictly follow all company safety protocols and regulations.
Qualifications:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class BCE or higher. At least 3 years of proven experience as a commercial truck driver. Clean driving record with no major violations. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong understanding of road safety regulations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with the road network in and around Kiambu county and surrounding regions. Must be reliable and punctual.
